with Leslie Starr Heimov, Exec. Dir Children's Law Center
790 KABC, March 19, 2016
California’s foster care system has for years been plagued by overcrowding, over-medicating, under-representation and mismanagement. Foster children wondering where they will be sent and what their lives will become, are the most at-risk in the nation to end up in harm’s way, on the street, in prison, or worse. Gurvey's Law welcomes attorney Leslie Starr Heimov, Executive Director of the Children's Law Center. The CLC represents all of the nearly 33,000, (30,000 in Los Angeles and 3,000 in Sacramento), children who pass through the state’s foster care system.
